The Native Sons of the Golden West was founded in 1875 as a fraternal organization dedicated to the precepts of Friendship, Loyalty, and Charity. Originally the NSGW was open only to males, born in California and over the age of 21. Since then, our membership has become more inclusive and we welcome all California residents who are US citizens over the age of 18. While our membership has changed, our mission has not. We are still dedicated to preserving California history and charitable work.
The Napa Parlor provides scholarships to local high schools, supports the 4H, Sea Scouts, Little League, and the Napa Valley College baseball team. We also donate to the Napa State Hospital so that Christmas presents can be provided for the residents of that institution, many of who are forgotten.
On a statewide level, we donate to our Charitable Foundation which over the last 70 years has donated nearly 8 million dollars to provide treatment and research for children born with cleft palate and our Historical Preservation Foundation, which has helped fund historic preservation efforts throughout the state.
